13th Star
In this Prog Rock concept CD, Scottish born Derek William Dick, better known as Fish, wears his heart on his sleeve as he relives the pain and anger resulting from a failed relationship. The lyrics are, at times, accusational and confronting. The story is set over instrumentation that is gloriously heavy at times, soft spoken and warm at others. Much in the manner of Gabriel, Floyd or Parsons, Fish delivers his lines part in song and part in spoken word. If you’ve ever been dumped, or just enjoy vintage progressive rock written and sung by someone who was, you should enjoy this. Fish has been around from the mid-‘80s, coming on the scene originally as the front man for Marillion. This CD was originally released in 2007, available only through his Website, and re-released earlier this year for retail sales.
